It seems like we went from winter to summer overnight around here! It was in the 40s a few days ago and now it’s mid-90s!! Time to take inventory on my summer running gear.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m good on shoes for the moment. I’m alternating between the New Balance Vazee Pace v2, Nike LunarTempo, Newton Distance IV, Newton Fate, and New Balance Zantes (v1 and v2).
I’m also still pretty well-stocked on socks. In the summer, I prefer the really thin compression-y anklets from RoadRunner Sports, and my usual Injinjis.
I’m definitely no fashionista. I tend to dress for comfort and performance more than style. I prefer to mostly wear black, not only because it’s easier to match (haha!) but I also still have self-esteem issues – and you know that black is slimming, right?! ;)
I have discovered the love of running skirts though! My go-to’s are SkirtSports and Sparkle Skirts. While I like the skirts better from Sparkle Skirts, almost the rest of my attire is from SkirtSports – I love their Redemption shorts, capris, and sports bras. For tops, I like to wear performance tanks (I especially love the soft bamboo material!) that have some kind of “statement” related to either running, veganism, or both (I have several No Meat Athlete tops).
As mentioned above, my favorite sports bras are from SkirtSports. I wear both the Sabrina (for A-B cups) and Kelly (B-D cups). I’m in between a B and C cup, and have found that both of those bras (in different sizes of course) are perfect! I also have a couple of Champion (Target) over-the-head sport bras that are great for short runs.
I suck at drinking water like I should, but if it’s hot and I’m going for more than 16 miles, I wear my CamelBak Marathoner vest. I’d probably wear it a lot more often if it was black :)
And of course, I couldn’t live without my Garmin :)
What are some of your running must-haves for the heat and humidity?

I am now loving my hydration packs! I just can’t understand how people run & don’t drink water!
The Kelly B-DD is my fav too! I still wear Champion a lot, too. And I have a Moving Comfort one that I like that I bought a few years ago. I don’t replace bras like you’re supposed to!
I don’t replace mine often enough either. I’ve never tried Moving Comfort, though I’ve heard great things about them. I used to like the Victoria’s Secret Incredible (or is it the Knockout?) bra, but they changed the underwire clip thingie and now it gives me a blister :(
Great blog! ! And you look beautiful!
Thanks Sheila <3
It looks like you’re well stocked.
I do feel well-prepared for a change!
Thanks for sharing! I am a keen (slow) jogger but also walk on a daily basis and this is my meditation. I have a poetry blog here on WordPress and today’s poem is about a hard going jog in the heat in case you have time to look? Have a good afternoon, Sam :)
Thanks Sam! I’ll go take a look at your blog…
Good choice of running gear :)
