Last Week’s Run Summary

What do you think of my new banner? I made it yesterday using PicMonkey and it took about a whole whopping 5 minutes!

Ahem, anyways…

I’m currently on Week 5 of the 10k trainer app by Zen Labs, and Day 26 of the Runner’s World Run Streak (#rwrunstreak). Ten days to go!

I’ve spent the last couple months or so working on speed, and by redoing C25k/10k it’s really been working!

I’ve been consistently running a lot faster than my usual 10-12 minute miles (as you can see below), and even got my latest “magic mile” down to 8:21! It’s been over 3 years since I’ve seen an 8(ish) minute mile!

smash15-21

While I’m excited to have improved my pace/speed, I’ve also noticed that I don’t look forward to my runs as much anymore.

It could be burnout from running every single day, or it could be overkill on the speed-work. The 10k training is only 3 days per week, so maybe I need to slow back down for the rest of the week. Or maybe I just have the holiday blues and feel like whining about something ;)

  1. I would guess it’s a combination of everything! I know that winters, in general, cause motivation problems, but if you’re running every day, you could be suffering from burnout. Instead of doing a running workout everyday, could you just do an easy one-mile warm-up before a different workout a couple of times a week? That way, you’re keeping a running streak going, but you’re doing an easy run and cross-training with something else.

Love the new banner, by the way! It’s so cute! I’m looking for a pig design for the next tattoo I want to get. It was my husband’s idea! He said that since I love pigs so much, and I’ve inspired him to give up eating pork products (baby steps, hooray!) that I should get a pig tattoo. I totally agree! Just need to find the right one.

Looking forward to another year of training with you! Happy holidays! :-) <3

    • Oooh! If you wait til the marathon, you could do a piggy with the 26.2! Speaking of pigs, did you see Esther’s new additions?!

On a couple of my weekly runs I do have intentions of only doing 1 mile and then switching to something else; it just never seems to work out that way. Heh. It’s only 10 more days, and the holidays are mixed in so I’m sure there will be a couple of just 1 mile days coming up soon!

I’m definitely looking forward to marathon training so I can slow back down and take it easy ;)

      • You, slowing down and taking easy? That will be something to see! LOL I don’t know if I can wait until the marathon to get another tattoo! And yes, I saw the new additions to Esther’s Sanctuary! So awesome!
